The many Tikkun Olam programs at the Jewish Center of Teaneck reflect the energy, enthusiasm and dedication of our membership.
Tikkun Olam means, “repairing the world” and we are G-d's partners in this responsibility. In the Pirkei Avot, Ethics of the Fathers, it is stated, “It is not your responsibility to complete the task of Tikkun Olam; however, it is your responsibility to participate in it.”
Bikkur Cholim Committee Reaches out to members who are ill, confined to their own home, in local hospitals, or in a nursing home. See More
Clothing Drive-All Year Round Bring in men, women, and children’s items that are clean and in good condition to the office.
Eye Glasses Collection-All Year Round Bring in your old eye glasses to the office and they will be given to a group that recycles them for use by deserving people.
Food Collection-All Year Round Bring in your non-perishables and put them in the food basket by the coatroom in the lobby.
Hanukkah Toy Drive Members are asked to bring in new, unwrapped toys for needy boys and girls of all ages…from infancy through adolescence. Presents are distributed in our area at children’s Hanukkah parties held by many organizations.
Project Isaiah…Yom Kippur projects Parents, children, and grandparents are asked to bring in unopened packages of food, canned goods, paper goods, baby supplies and sanitary supplies in pre-provided specially labeled bags. All the items are distributed to needy local organizations in the area. Teddy Bear-Stuffed Animal Drive For the needy children in Israel. Bring in items that are clean and in good condition to the office.
