Activities for Seniors at the Jewish Center of Teaneck

“New Beginnings” For Mature And Retired People

Of All Ages

“New Beginnings” of the Jewish Center of Teaneck is a group for mature and retired people of all ages that holds programs with emphasis and content on Jewish themes.

Programs have included  musical programs, lectures by rabbis, intergenerational family dynamic programs, cantorial programs, learning and information programs about the various holidays including Rosh Hashanah, Sukkot, Pesach, Hanukkah,  and others, health and medical issue programs, films and many more. There are always interesting interactive discussions and of course friendly socializing.

Meetings are free and open to all.

Aviva Feldman, Director of “New Beginnings,” said that “the group provides TJC or Tender Jewish Care for each other with emphasis on caring and camaraderie. I'm very gratified with the success of our programs and with the high level of participation in the special projects and the popular lecture series."

New Beginnings is one of a number of Center programs sponsored by the Elisabeth Heilbronner Chesed Fund, which, due to the generosity and encouragement of Kurt Heilbronner, past president of the Jewish Center of Teaneck, perpetuates the memory of his beloved wife, Elisabeth.

Kaplan JCC on the Palisades Center for Older Adults

Located at the Jewish Center of Teaneck

The Kaplan JCC on the Palisades Center for Older Adults, located at the Jewish Center of Teaneck, serves the elderly, independent seniors and younger seniors where they can meet for friendship, good conversation and activities.

The Center for Older Adults, now with an over 20 year history, meets every Monday through Friday where nutritious hot Kosher meals are served daily to the seniors attending the program.  Kosher nutritious lunches are served in a most congenial, family-style way.  Many friendships are formed.

The doors open up at 9:30am.  A special graduated ramp makes entrance to the facility easy.

Daily programs include card and board exercies classes, games, rap sessions, exercise, current event discussions, creative writing classes and music sessions.

In addition, there are special program events: guest speakers, special screenings, and in-house shows.  Holiday and Shabbat celebrations are observed during the year.  Trips are planned to Atlantic City, On and Off Broadway shows, dinner theaters, museums and more.

County transportation servicing many towns in Bergen County is available.
