President, Sanford Hausler
Sanford(Sandy as he is known to all of us)Hausler was born in Albany, NY, attended Temple Israel in Albany, received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in NYC, and spent a year studying at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. He graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and has been practicing law for the past 25 years in New York City.
Sanford came to Teaneck with his wife Rachel four years ago after living in the Boro Park section of Brooklyn. He was a member Temple Emanu-el of Boro Park and served as its Chairman of the Board. He is a vice president of the Union for Traditional Judaism and a member of the board of the Institute of Traditional Judaism, organizations which promote the kind of open and observant Judaism which Sandy says is emblematic of the Jewish Center of Teaneck.
Sandy says that one of the most important goals of his administration is to attract people through the Center doors so they can see what the Jewish Center of Teaneck has to offer the Jewish community; inspiring religious services; a place to observe and celebrate life-cycle events; programs for lifelong Jewish learning; social, adult and youth programs, and cultural events to attract all segments of the Jewish community; and a growing, young, and vibrant membership.
Sandy regularly attends Shabbos services at which he is an active participant often taking on the responsibility of Gabbai, Ba’al K’riyah or Ba’al Maftir. He looks forward to greeting everyone during Kiddush after services. |
