Rabbi Lawrence S. Zierler assumed the pulpit of the Jewish Center of Teaneck in August 2006.

A magna cum laude graduate of Yeshiva College in Political Science, Rabbi Zierler was ordained at Yeshiva University's affiliated Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary (R.I.E.T.S.) and holds Masters Degrees in Clinical Counseling from John Carroll University and Bio-Ethics from
Case Western Reserve University.

Over the last two decades, he has served as a pulpit rabbi in Maine, Ohio and Tennessee as well as a Jewish Community Center executive, communal educator and chaplain.

Rabbi Zierler is a Senior Rabbinic Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem and completed a two-year Jerusalem Fellowship at the Mandel Leadership Institute in Israel, 2004-2006.

Rabbi Zierler is the Rabbinic Consultant to the Hospice of New Jersey, and directs its ethics committee. He also serves on the ethics committee of Holy Name Hospital and the Jewish Home in Rockleigh, NJ.

The Rabbi is the Jewish chaplain for the Teaneck Fire Department and the president of the Teaneck Clergy Council. He is also a member of the Rabbinic Alumni of R.I.E.T.S. and the New York Board of Rabbis.

The Rabbi's area of research and scholarly interest include the sociology of religions and communities, mentoring and social capital. He is currently involved in writing a book on the physician-patient relationship as well as a curriculum on post-Holocaust debates and dilemmas.

A compelling speaker on a host of topics, he often appears before various community groups and at professional conferences, particularly in the field of bio-ethics.

Rabbi Zierler is married to Berni (nee Breen) who is a board certified Physician Assistant.
